Physiotherapy for Expats in Japan – Relief from Neck, Shoulder, and Lower Back Pain

Are you experiencing neck stiffness, shoulder tension, or lower back pain while living and working in Japan?

At Physio Center, we provide professional physiotherapy services for international residents and expatriates working in Japan.

Our English-speaking physiotherapist offers personalized assessments and treatment to help you understand the causes of your discomfort and find effective ways to improve your condition.

Why Do Neck, Shoulder, and Lower Back Problems Persist?

Neck and shoulder tension, back stiffness, and lower back pain are often associated with poor posture, reduced function of the deep stabilizing muscles, and improper movement patterns.

However, identifying and correcting these problems on your own can be surprisingly difficult.

For example:

1. Are you really activating your deep core muscles?

You may have been taught core stabilization exercises, such as the drawing-in maneuver, to activate your deep abdominal muscles.

However, many people unknowingly overactivate their superficial muscles instead of properly engaging their deep stabilizing muscles.

As a result, even though they practice core exercises regularly, they may not achieve the expected improvement.

2. Are you breathing correctly?

Breathing patterns play an important role in core stability.

Some people rely excessively on upper chest breathing and have difficulty using their diaphragm effectively.

Without proper diaphragmatic breathing, it can be challenging to coordinate the deep abdominal muscles and develop effective core stability.

3. Are you trying to correct your forward head posture without improving your thoracic alignment?

Many people perform neck exercises to correct forward head posture or relieve neck tension.

However, if the thoracic spine remains excessively rounded and the rib cage is poorly aligned, neck exercises alone may not be effective.

In some cases, excessive neck exercises without correcting the underlying postural problems may even increase muscle tension and discomfort.

Personalized Physiotherapy Based on Functional Assessment

At Physio Center, we focus on identifying the underlying functional problems rather than simply treating the painful area.

We carefully assess your posture, breathing patterns, deep muscle activation, and movement coordination to develop an individualized exercise program.

Our goal is to help you understand how your body works and learn how to move more efficiently and comfortably in everyday life.

Struggling with Core Training or Forward Head Posture?

If you have been trying to improve your posture, strengthen your core muscles, or relieve persistent neck, shoulder, or lower back discomfort without satisfactory results, we would be happy to help.
