Many studies have proven that dysfunction of the deep muscles of the torso (inner muscles) is the fundamental cause of chronic back pain that occurs repeatedly. When it comes to a slipped back, it is common to see an orthopedic surgeon who will explain that you should rest for a few days with oral medications (anti-inflammatory painkillers) and compresses, and at the same time add electrotherapy and hot packs. As the anti-inflammatory painkillers work, the patient is able to move easily and perform daily activities with ease, but after a few months or a year, back pain often reappears, and the symptoms are repeated. The reported causes of recurrence include dysfunction of the transversus abdominis muscle, which is a deep muscle (inner muscle) in the lumbar region, and atrophy of the lumbar multifidus muscle. At our center, we use ultrasound equipment to check the contractile function and muscle atrophy of these inner muscles. For inner muscle training, we use the "Neurac treatment approach," a world-proven neuromuscular reactivation technique that uses vibration stimulation to improve low back pain. It is used in many rehabilitation clinics in Europe and the U.S., but in Japan, the treatment is available only at a few medical facilities including our center. If you suffer from recurring back pain, please contact us for a consultation, and a Neurac international instructor will be happy to assist you.
